The cool and weightless piano riff that opens this track is pure soul and the bubbling bass coupled with teh louche beat underlines that vibe perfectly. I don't say this lightly but Sermic's 'Ride or Die' has a blend of Prince's vocals and some latter-day Motown melodies that makes for an utterly joyous listen and the kind of song that will work on any playlist for any occasion. The backing vocals and keys flourishes add a sense of depth and warmth to proceedings but this is the kind of song that would still kick with just piano and vocals which is how you know it's a banger. Single of the year potential? Very much so.
