Scotland's alt-pop dark princess Malka returns with new single 'Matriarch' and it's a woozy delight. The sway and stumble of the melody is kept on an even keel by a pulsating beat and bass drone with Malka's impish vocal bouncing over the top playfully. There's a real sense of this song existing between the light and the dark, the night and the day, the hard and the squishy, and that's a magical place for anything to happen but when it comes to music you're almost always on to a winner in that space.
