The resplendent Aysa Satti has just dropped her debut with all the flourish of a far more established artist so you need to listen up and listen good. The self-titled EP opens with former single 'Down Daddy' which bubbles and bristles with pent up energy provided by the offbeat drumming and twanging guitars dancing vigorously with Satti's vocal. 'Drunk Drive' is a more sultry and soulful number with the energy of a sticky stoop somewhere on the bayou at around midnight.
'Look At You Know' was the track that first introduced me to Asya Satti and that vibrancy still captivates me as the combination of influences blend brilliantly to make a truly unique sound. 'Block The Sun' makes for the last track proper, combining elements of soul, Motown, Afrobeat and folk to make a brilliantly enthralling song. There's a live version of 'Drunk Drive' as a little bonus, giving the song a sparse, smoky Jazz vibe that makes you want to go see her live but for now let's just enjoy one of the most stunning and original artists around at the moment.
