It is a crime that Jamie Lenman is hailed as one the UK's national musical heroes, he should be selling out week-long residencies at the Royal Albert Hall by now but, nevertheless, the longer he is our little secret the more we can enjoy him, right? Lenman's new single, 'Talk Hard', is primarily a slice of encouragement, an arm around the shoulder, a half-time team talk or a much needed pint for someone struggling to make themselves heard. The message is always key with Lenman but the song doesn't come far behind and this Weezer-esque romp is one of the wormiest ear worms I've heard in a while with swaggering guitars, hip swinging beats and that distinctively brilliant vocal riding high. Lenman sings "take a breath, take a sip, take your time, the the mic, if you like use mine" and you feel like he really, really means it too. Genius.
