‘Rosey’ is the latest track from
London’s Amaroun, an artist who is fast becoming one of my favourite
discoveries of 2020. A slow rattling acoustic lament is punctured by a hip-hop
beat of devastating simplicity and heart-beat proportions. Then Amaroun’s voice
joins in which does a Jekyll and Hyde act between dead-eyed spoken word and
sweetly sung lines of devastating power. Amaroun feels as though she’s pulled
off the neat trick of a sound that is authentic and edgy enough to get critical
acclaim but melodic and cool enough to gain mass appeal. Ready to get involved
