London based artist Gazel is on
the cusp of releasing her debut album in October but there’s just time to
squeeze in one more single to keep us hooked. ‘Walk On Land’ gets going with
steel drums, of all things, but it works largely because of Gazel’s sultry
vocals weaving throughout and soothing the edges of the metallic rhythm. This
music comes from a different place and a different time but, like a bottle
washed up on a shore from a distant land, the message is still clear and
timeless. I’m really looking forward to hearing how Gazel weaves all these
songs together in to an album, luckily I only have to wait until October.
