There’s an awful lot going on in this new single from
Brummie trio the Cosmics but it really, really works. ‘Eyes’ is a spaghetti
tangle of influences covered in the spicy tomato sauce of superb vocalist Erin
Grace with the Doyle boys providing the meat balls (in every sense). Pull at
one piece of spaghetti and you’ll get the Long Blondes’ dead-eyed indie,
another gives you the snarl of Hole, the next one has the raw appeal of the
Subways and that one is all about Best Coast. It’s a tasty mix and one that
will earn the three piece a lot of fans in the UK but I have a sneaky suspicion
the yanks will take to this like the Brits did the White Stripes. Here’s to
