RISE – SINGLE REVIEW

Rise – Dark Cloud (Thoroughbred Music)
Rise - Dark Cloud

Release Date: 28th June 2019

Devon musician Rise has dropped the Talitha from her moniker and moved firmly forward in to the world of performing artist than mere singer-songwriter with the new abstract and genderless title. Rise’s new single is ‘Dark Cloud’ and it is similarly non-conformist with a smorgasbord of instrumentation clattering and writhing beneath the serene and enchanting vocals. I guess you might call this Prog-Folk if you were pushed for a pigeon hole but I think you’re better off thinking of this as a piece of art in which different ears will hear different things, catch on to different strands and take huge pleasure in the ability to do just that. Rise is the next stage in a natural evolution and one that sounds as organic as that might suggest so just find some space in the outside world to look at or be in before letting this one connect you with the earth.
