Release Date: 30th November 2018
Much like my new-found love of red wine (Malbec if you’re asking), Katy Hurt has wormed her way in to my affections during 2018. The London based singer’s new single ‘Natchez’ (a city known as the jewel of the Mississippi River for those of you without Google) is a beautiful country lament with sparse instrumentation giving Hurt’s voice room to roam and luxuriate in the melancholy. Vocally, this is in June Carter or Dolly Parton territory and once those final acoustic notes ring out you are left waiting for emotional and appreciative applause from an enraptured Grand Ole Opry audience.
