ABQ – SINGLE REVIEW

ABQ – Takes So Long
ABQ - Take So Long

Release Date: Out Now

So, first things first, ABQ were called Albuquerque but they’ve shorted things down and now they sound like a Double-Glazing firm from Yeovil. That is, at least, until they start playing. ‘Takes So Long’ is the kind of anthemic indie-rock that will play well on both sides of the Atlantic for those yearning for something to fill the gap between Bastille, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol. When the chorus kicks in, you can’t help but be swept away in the emotion and energy of the song as the guitars soar and the vocal harmonies cry out for a festival crowd to sing back at them. The Belfast vocal comes through in the vocal which I absolutely love – like the early Biffy days or Idlewild in their prime – but the music is set fair for a big American movie that needs a soundtrack for that scene where the plucky hero has to race to make the train/plane/bus before his love leaves town. Epic stuff.
