TALITHA RISE – SINGLE REVIEW

Talitha Rise – Chapel Bell (Sonic Bond)
Talitha Rise - Chapel Bell

Release Date: 22nd May 2018

It wouldn’t surprise me if Devon songstress Talitha Rise had been roaming the moors all winter to gather inspiration for her forthcoming album, such is the windswept and wild nature of her music. New single ‘Chapel Bell’ is a shot across the boughs ahead of the long player but it’s designed to call you in to the rocks like a siren rather than deter your advances. Rise’s waif like voice creeps in to your soul through your ears, surrounded by subtle but persistent piano notes and swathed in strings with the odd ominous thud of a rhythm coming across the horizon. It would be easy, possibly lazy, to draw Kate Bush comparisons when what Talitha Rise is doing has far more relevance in the modern world where the organic and the digital are inextricably linked so it’s far better to revel in the elegance of her weaving together of these two strands of our existence.
