LIINES – SINGLE REVIEW

Liines – Shallow (Reckless Yes Records)

Liines - Shallow

Release Date: Out Now

Manchester trio Liines mean business and their business is post-punk with a wry smile and a glint in the eye. New single ‘Shallow’ starts with a primal rhythm section rumble and thump before vocals kick in that are somewhere between Beth Ditto and PJ Harvey with Mark E Smith’s commitment to delivery. Like contemporaries Berries, these three women are ploughing a very unique and individual furrow using talent, passion and a singular sense of direction that you have to admire – especially when they manage a little bass and drum breakdown in a song that is only a smidge over two minutes long. This is fiery, incendiary, direct and raw which are all qualities I can’t help but adore in a song and the artists behind it.
