SWEET WHITE - SINGLE REVIEW

Sweet White - Tides
Sweet White - Tides

Release Date: Out Now

Peterhead kids Sweet White are back with a new single ahead of a fresh tasting EP that is due to hit our ears in October. 'Tides' is the latest missive from the 5-piece and after a slightly ambient, shoegazey intro, a tide of Madchester inspired indie comes washing over us. Taking in elements of the Stone Roses, Dutch Uncles, the Verve and Ride, these guys manage the seemingly impossible feat of creating a tune that is slow in pace but unrelenting and unpredictable in momentum. Guitars scratch and drone in equal measure, the drums bounce around and throughout it all a persistent but non-threatening voice pervades. This is a little rough around the edges and it's certainly not polished but that's all part of the charm and it's so good to hear a band releasing music before they've been through the industry mill too much.
