TERMITE - DEMO REVIEW

Termite - Each Tick A Tock
Termite - Each Tick A Tock

This is one of my favourite parts of writing this blog, getting to watch/hear bands grow and develop beyond their initial rambunctiousness in to something altogether more complex and intriguing. 'Each Tick A Tock' is the first burst of activity from the forthcoming Termite EP and on this evidence it's bound to be something quite special indeed. Starting off like an old school Young Knives tune, 'Each Tick A Tock' then goes through something of a modern day Arctic Monkeys movement followed up by some Queens Of The Stone Age action and then a Doors-esque breakdown. All this tied together with the soft Northern vocal tones reminiscent of Everything Everything or Dutch Uncles. Termite are exploring their prog side without a doubt but in such a way that it fits in to four and a half minutes and would fit perfectly just after the 1.30 news on BBC 6Music. Truly joyous stuff.
