Heavy For The Tropics - Beret Of Discontent
Release Date: Out Now
I originally read 'Beret of Discontent' as 'Bereft of Discontent' but then I remembered that we were dealing with Bristol's Quirkmaster Generals Heavy For The Tropics and got myself back in the zone. A clattering, stumbling beat gets us going before the angular guitars and playful organs join for a track that has the vibe of Addams family goofing around on holiday - dark but with a sense of mischief and fun. Throw in a video of chess and jigsaws happening in reverse and you've yourself a suitably oddball experience. Like I said, quirky.
