BASHT. - Kids Vs Guns (LAB Records)
Release Date: Out Now
It's time for a little angular indie-rock with a twist of post-punk goth and you know you want it. Irish lads BASHT. mix the near-mumbled vocal style of Hozier with the kind of guitars that sound like early Franz Ferdinand fed through a Gurriers mangle and it makes new single 'Kids Vs Guns' a brilliantly juxtaposing listen - like eating chocolate covered barbed wire. All of this, however, is just the packing for the hard hitting lyrics that only grow more affecting after the opening couplet of "Guard towers block the sunlight, there's no more shelter in the shade". Powerful stuff indeed.
