Ethiopian-Canadian singer-songwriter Zada really hits the spot on her new 'Heart Of A Lion' EP so lend me your ears (not literally) and give this four track collection some of your time. The EP opens up on the reggae infused 'Leave The Show' which has an easy breezy vibe matched with a heaviness of heart that makes it an intriguing listen. 'They'll Never Find Us' continues with the deft guitar licks and laid back atmosphere as Zada's vocal is laid out luxuriously like a velvet blanket on a chaise longue.
Title track 'Heart Of A Lion' is a hustling, bustling vibe like Notting Hill Carnival with rhythms straining to line up and keep in time with each other giving Zada the chance to make her voice heard like a call to arm. We finish up with 'We've Been Runnin'' which impresses with it's cinematic sound and radio friendly melodies that mix influences from Amy Winehouse, Janelle Monae, and JONES with a little of her own flavour in there too. This is a strong EP with each track showing off a different flavour and doing it with flair. More please.
