What's that you say? A Swiss/Spanish quintet with a sombre heart and some satisfyingly jangly guitars? Yes please. Sunday,June are said five-piece and their new single 'What If I Tried?' is a brilliantly poised track that will BBC 6Music flipping their collective lids. The pulsating bass and sweeping energy keeps this from falling down a shoegaze well but the expansive melodies and dreamy vocals definitely flirt with that particular water source. Oh, and there's a saucy little 60s/70s Parisian synth expedition about two-thirds of the way through which is both unexpected and welcome - like a cat turning up in your lounge on a Saturday afternoon when you don't a cat. Superb.
