Joe Chown - Letters To 1969
Release Date: Out Now
Raspy Cornishman Joe Chown comes striding back into town with new single 'Letters To 1969', an ode to growing up in the wrong time in history. I think the Springsteen, Dylan, and Frank Turner comparisons have been made before but there is something comforting in knowing that a new generation is carrying the torch of folk-roots-Americana forward in a way that AI will never be able to replicate or understand. The strained vocals are buoyed by the rattling acoustic guitar as Chown calls out, back through the decades, desperate for a connection with Jack Kerouac. Heartening stuff.
