Spouses is the stage name of Iceland based Canadian singer-songwriter Joel Durksen and he is clearly a fan of the gentler side of life judging from his chosen home and his music. 'Saint Christopher' features a soothingly rippled acoustic guitar melody which means the lyrics about the aftermath of a car crash catch you slightly off guard, to say the least. Aside from that, Durksen has a subdued vocal style but as the additional instrumentation joins in to create a crescendo of sounds you feel that darkness bubble to the surface momentarily.
