THE DARKNESS - SINGLE REVIEW

The Darkness - I Hate Myself (Cooking Vinyl)

Release Date: Out Now

You know what this is? This is rock'n'roll. The Darkness are dropping their new single 'I Hate Myself' and it is a balls to the wall, fun as fuck, rock'n'roll tune with melodies for days and who could possibly object to that? In among the Quo-meets-Queen inspired guitars and pounding drums, however, is Justin Hawkins singing about the regret at his role in the breakdown of a perfectly good relationship which, inevitably, makes this a blues song at heart. "There goes the only human being I have ever loved more than I hate myself" - a blues lyric if ever I heard one.
