I do love the sound of a piano carrying the melody and not just being another part of the mix so this new single from Buxton based Isaac Neilson grabbed my attention straight away. 'Flying' rumbles in the low notes with an Elliot Smith vibe before exploding into a chorus that will have venues rocking out like they haven't since Ben Folds Five first toured the UK. Throw in some stomping drums, guitar licks and the kind of breathless vocals that rock'n'roll demands and you've got yourself what I like to call "one of my favourite new artists of 2024".
