My God this is achingly beautiful stuff from the superb Rosie Darling, once of Boston but now of Los Angeles. 'Boxes' is based around a simple but tender piano melody and Darling's fragile yet brave vocal with heartbreak the fuel that drives this one forward. The emotional rawness is palpable and that sense of despair when you're the one left behind is like an open wound but that energy is cathartic when delivered with the breathy vocal power of Ellie Goulding at the end of her emotional tether.
