Irish rock'n'roll outfit the Amniotics have a strong punk streak running through them like blood through a stick of rock and that gives them an edge. 'Boomerang' blends the classic rock vibes of Joan Jett and Siouxsie and the Banshees with the more 90s sounds of Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney or the Breeders as the vocals move from breathy to shouting in stages of intensity. This is all built on a wall of distorted guitars and thundering drums which are, quite literally, to die for (not actually literally, obviously). Oh, and did I mention that this is their debut release? Yeah, well it is and it's awesome. So there.
