There's a real sense of excitement around the music of Chappaqua Wrestling and it really is about the music rather than any media spin or swaggering wannabe-celebs. The quartet's new single 'Wide Asleep' starts with a simple and subdued acoustic melody and soft vocals but you can tell there's something bubbling, just beneath the surface. The acoustic guitar morphs in to something more electric, the vocals drop the softness in preference for saliva spitting passion and then comes the storm. There's a raw rock'n'roll energy of early Oasis mixed with a whole lot more anger than they could ever muster and the searing guitars of My Vitriol - that should justify that excitement I was talking about.
