Halifax may not be traditionally a hotbed of musical talent but Ellur is out to change that and based on this new single she has a pretty good chance. 'Now I'm Alone' is a haunting but lush piano based ballad that has just enough sustain on the piano to fill the gaps between Ellur's dusky, smokey vocal. This song is full of warmth but it's the kind of of warmth you get from your ex-partner's sweatshirt and when mixed with the pure emotion of the vocal that cracks and drops out when the pain is just too much, well, you just know the heartbreak is real. Stunning stuff.
