This is my first experience of Peckham's L.A. Salami and on the basis of this single I'm up for hearing more. 'Desperate Times, Mediocre Measures' starts with a laid back Hip-Hop beat and rippling melodies before L.A. Salami brings his smooth flow to the table like a mix of Don Letts, Richard Ayoade and Jazzie B. This is part song, part lecture and part hypnotic mantra that calls on people to listen up, think clearly and take heed of the warnings all around us. It's a jam and a half with a video that will suck you in too.
