KING CHARLES - EP REVIEW

King Charles - All I Know Is How I Feel EP
(Buffalo Gang)

Release Date: Out Now

Here's a shot in the arm of energy and sunlight that we might all need round about now. King Charles releases the 'All I Know Is How I Feel' EP which gets off to a canter with '12345', the kind of track that puts me in mind of Mika, Rooney or the Feeling with its sense of freedom, energy and melody. 'Oh Mama' is, by contrast, a slightly mellower number but there's still a twitching and impatient energy bubbling through the verse before blossoming in to life in the chorus like Elton John dueting with George Ezra.

Title track 'All I Know Is How I Feel' takes some Vampire Weekend-esque guitars and marshmallow organs to make the kind of song that your hips will simply have to move to wherever you hear it. Closing out on 'How I Long', we're taken on an odyssey of hope, energy and optimism that shows off King Charles' more sensitive side without losing that sense of child-like inability to stand still. This is an exceptional showcase of an artist who knows how to write a song, how to perform a song and how to sprinkle on some of the special dust that makes you fall in love with that song. Gorgeous stuff.
