This is a protest song against
Asian hate, so I am saddened by the fact that it even needs to exist but when
protest songs sound this good, you have to enjoy it a little too. Ska pioneers
the Bruce Lee Band is a fluid collective from the West Coast of the USA and
their up tempo single ‘Division in the Heartland’ is tailor made for crowds to
bounce to with the tight rhythms, scratchy guitars and horns you expect fro
West Coast ska. The spoken word meets rap verses are exploded by the shout-along
choruses and the song only lasts two minutes so you can listen to it fifteen
times in half an hour and there’s not much better use of half an hour these
days.
