Alabama duo Harrison Scarecrow
are back with their seemingly poorly timed new single ‘New Year’s Eve’ but when
the music is this good, it doesn’t really matter when you get to hear it. There
is a moody rumble to this sound as the bass notes and drums create the ambience
of a storm on the horizon flashing and brooding with a sense of anticipation.
As the song opens up and the near-whispered vocals gain some power, you get a
real sensation of a journey moving along and a road rising up to meet you. The
video captures this energy perfectly as sparse piano notes give this an early
U2 vibe and we are reminded that life is not about the destination but more the
journey.
