Cardiff’s Codewalkers are back
with a new single which is very good news because they always bring their
A-Game. ‘The Way We Go’ kicks straight in with a bouncing bass line and rapid-fire
vocals before the ska’d up organ stabs join in and then the beat rolls around
the corner to get things firing on all cylinders. I’m pretty sure I’ve made the
comparison with underrated 90s combo Audioweb before but I stand by it but
there is a low rumble to this and direct delivery to this one that brings to
mind the likes of Asian Dub Foundation and elements of Groove Armada and
Basement Jaxx at their best. The groove is deep, the blend of instruments is masterful,
and the vibe is one of determination to make music their way. Who are we to
argue with that? Nobody, that’s who.
