DEJA – EP REVIEW

DEJA – Intro EP

Release Date: Out Now

British sensation in the making DEJA has just dropped her debut six track EP and it is a bit of a game changer. “Hi, hello and welcome to my ted talk” are the opening words of the opening track ‘Ted Talk’ and we then slide seductively into a low-lit pool of music with DEJA’s sultry voice and subtle arrangements teasing us all the way. ‘Losing Game’ follows up with those chilled R&B vibes but Megan Thee Stallion attitude while ‘Sit Down’ bounces like early Destiny’s Child material being performed by TLC in a low rider.

What DEJA does so perfectly is mix smooth melodies with sharp lyrics which is totally disarming and intoxicating. ‘Last Dance’ is a late-night slow jam to get your freak on to which then bleeds in to ‘Control’, a much more up tempo and confident track that is perfect for getting ready for that night that we all need right now. The EP finishes up with ‘Paris’ where we find DEJA in ultra-seduction mood as the clapped beat and low chords set the perfect tone for our heroine to lay her smooth vocal out on top of. DEJA is the real deal and could very easily go up against the big players in the US with this level talent, consistency and creativity.
