The peerless Ben Harper is
gracing us with yet another collection of his expertly crafted songs and the
first missive from that anthology is ‘London’. And it is beautiful. I mean,
with the world spinning wildly off its axis, we all need to stop a minute,
breath in through your nose and slowly out through your mouth while listening
to this slice of instrumental genius. Harper’s lap technique and intuitive feel
for a groove is sublime and if the whole album (‘Winter is for Lovers’) is half
as good as this then we are in for a treat. The album comes out at the end of
October so maybe buy a few copies and give the gift of tranquillity this
Christmas.
