GEORGIE WELLS – SINGLE REVIEW

Georgie Wells – Worth It For You/Build It Up
Georgie Wells

Release Date: Out Now

London based Georgie Wells describes her music as nu jazz, neo soul and contemporary R&B which, normally, is enough to make me go running and screaming towards the delete button. However, there was something in the freshness and energy of Wells that piqued my interest so I dipped my toe in the water of these two tracks….just for you. Starting with ‘Worth It For You’ we are treated to some laid back double bass and the kind of piano playing that makes wisps of smoke appear in the air as if by magic. Wells’ voice has the smooth chill of Norah Jones and fringes of early Amy Winehouse as it unfurls luxuriously over the music full of class and effortless charm. ‘Build It Up’, by contrast, has a more vibrant, urban feel with an impatient hi-hat nudging the tempo along and Wells’ voice slipping in to that more R&B vibe that is more contemporary. By the time the chorus drops we’re in the territory of Craig David jamming with a live band and it’s a genuinely vibrant, refreshing experience. Thank you hunch, you’ve seen me right again.
