It’s hard to come up with new superlatives to describe Charlotte Gainsbourg and her sublime music but she keeps bringing out the music so the very least I can do is write about it. New single ‘Bombs Away’ has a sketchy, twitchy energy about the synthy opening which is soon contextualised by a pulsing, disco beat and rippling piano notes. Then, of course, comes that trademark breathy Gainsbourg vocal oozing class, sophistication, allure and nonchalance which is just adds a to the experience. There is not one note or beat of this track that doesn’t urge you, plead with you to get up and dance, strut and generally be your best self on the dance floor or the high street or the supermarket – wherever you have the pleasure and privilege of listening.
