Mmmmm, this is a tasty treat for
January and no mistake. Southampton trio Toreador are bringing new single ‘Ashes’
to the table and you’d better be hungry because this is going to take some
eating. A buzzsaw riff with a devlish glint, drums that Royal Blood threw out
for being too primal and swaggering vocals make for an irresistible slice of
rock’n’roll. If you like the drive of Moriaty, the theatrical flair of Muse and
the pop-rock sass of Rews then Toreador will be right up your street – probably
wearing a long black coat and sporting some rakish facial hair. Best rock single
of the year so far? I reckon so.
