I do love an animated video and
this visual for the latest offering from Tina Boonstra is a stop motion
animation peach. ‘Concrete Heart’ is a slice of anthemic indie with the kind of
driving guitars that early Stereophonics tracks had, bristling with energy, and
drums that just won’t quit. Boonstra’s voice is pop-pure but with an edge that
really shines through in the pumping chorus where the line “You can turn my concrete
heart in to something that beats again, you can lift this heavy load off me so
I can feel again”. Blended with the video accompaniment, this is a delightfully
refreshing drink with a twist of lime to give it a kick.
