GOOD GUY CLARENCE – SINGLE REVIEW

Good Guy Clarence – Yell (Woyera)

Good Guy Clarence - Yell

Release Date: Out Now

New single ‘Yell’ from Brighton dream-poppers Good Guy Clarence is as influenced by Jazz as it is by Shoegaze and that makes for a slippery proposition. The dreamy guitars of the opening remind me of Tennis but then things take a Dutch Uncles direction before settling in to a steady Pavement meets dEUS with understated drums and those gorgeous, jangly guitars just bringing the dappled sunshine in to your world. There’s a sepia toned sense of nostalgia to this track but for a non-descript time in the past which makes me feel like I’m watching the Wonder Years as remade by the Duffer brothers and it feels good.

Live Dates:

17th May – Alternative Great Escape, Fierce Panda Stage @ East Street Tap, Brighton
