MONO CLUB – SINGLE REVIEW

Mono Club – Place Called Home (LGM Records)
Mono Club - Place Called Home

Release Date: Out Now

Now relationships in bands are generally doomed to fail so I’m already a little concerned for UK Indie darlings Lyla Foy and John Herbert who are starting new venture Mono Club in between Netflix marathons and date nights at Pizza Express. Nevertheless, sometimes these situations can lead to extreme creative energy so let’s do what all good friends do and keep our doubts to ourselves as we jump in to this new single, ‘Place Called Home’, with enthusiasm. The track opens with an emerging, building vibe that feels like Arcade Fire are going on a road trip through the Midwest in an open top classic American car (yes, I know they’re Canadian, stop being pedantic). The interplay between Herbert and Foy’s voices is beautifully timed and toned which speaks to the strength of their relationship emerging through the music. Musically, we’re in jangly indie territory with intricate and delicate guitar lines rippling like fresh rain-drops over the lush foliage of the melodies. ‘Place Called Home’ is full of hope, optimism, rainbows ends and endless, countless tomorrows which is a vibe the whole world could do with a dose of right now.

Live Dates:
