There’s a wonderful, sultry feel
to this new single from Solihull songstress Lexis and I think you should wrap
yourself up in it as the Autumn draws in. ‘Back To The Start’ might sound, on
the surface, like a straight up acoustic based indie-pop tune but when you give
this a second listen you’ll hear the maturity and the power behind this tune.
Think Winehouse and Adele levels of stirring vocals but then throw in the kind
of live, authentic musicianship that almost sounds as though it was recorded
live. The drums in particular sound really fresh and that adds an excellent
depth to this piece but it’s the voice of Lexis that makes this soar beyond
your average singer-songwriter tune. Far, far beyond.
