JOSEPH RUSSELL - SINGLE REVIEW

Joseph Russell - It's Time
Joseph Russell - It's Time

Release Date: Out Now

Plymouth boy (or bhey to the locals) Joseph Russell is a hardworking kind of guy judging by his gig list and that doesn't include all the private shows! In fact, it's got to be hard to move in the Westcountry without tripping over one of his gigs or at least a poster. This new single from Russell goes by the name of 'It's Time' and should appeal to those enjoying the morbid piano music currently adorning festive advertisements on nearly every channel. In all seriousness, though, this track has a forlorn quality that seeps from the piano and Russell's gravelly vocal that is more Rod Stewart than Michael Buble. There are elements of Robbie Williams in his pomp but at 5 minutes long it never quite reaches the peak or crescendo I was hoping for when it started. That said, this is the kind of song that will either get picked up for an advertising campaign or will allow a load of guys to apologies/get engaged/get laid/dump a girl with the right soundtrack.
