Jennifer Davies may not be the
most superstar sounding moniker but then neither was Shirley Bassey or Cerys
Matthews and look what happened to them. Liverpudlian pop pretender has a new
single and video for you under the title 'Disconnected' and boy is it a stylish
affair. Buzzsaw guitars, rippling synths, a pounding beat and the kind of
energy that you might expect from Kim Wilde singing with the Ting Tings all
combine to make this a thoroughly impressive tune. This is edgy, alt-pop that
has retained a sense of fun despite the social commentary in the lyrics and
uber-stylish video. Davies has real star quality and you can see why she didn't
adopt a stage name - she simply doesn't need to. Take her as you find her and
let yourself get swept away in pop tsunami that is Jennifer Davies. Superb
