THE PICTISH TRAIL - SINGLE REVIEW

The Pictish Trail - Long In The Tooth (Moshi Moshi Records)
The Pictish Trail - Long In The Tooth

Release Date: 18th August 2014

The man with my favourite beard/eye combination has returned from his remote Scottish hideaway to bring us another slice of his own unique brand of loveliness. 'Long In the Tooth' has a gentle, babbling brook type of acoustic riff with a few sprinkled melodies and the kind of beats and rhythms that David Kitt and Jim Noir make such good use of. And then there's the voice of Johnny Lynch (aka The Pictish Trail) which is smooth and pure like the mist on a clear spring morning and just as refreshing as it slowly envelopes you, body and soul. This is fun music but with a real sense of soul and heart - essentially the mate you can have a laugh down the local with but will also help you move house when your girl kicks you out.
