D.A. - SINGLE REVIEW

D.A. - Glowing (Capitol Records)
D.A. - Glowing

D.A. Wallach is, it would seem, a bit of an all rounder so ladies and gents should form and orderly queue. He's got brains (Harvard grad), he's got looks if you like chiselled features with curly hair and boy can he write an understated but beautiful pop ballad. 'Glowing' is a piano based ditty which is equal parts David Bowie, Elton John, Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright all stuck together with dreamy vocal harmonies and luscious string parts. There's a melancholia to the tune that makes you want to curl up in an old blanket and rest your head on the lap of the person you trust the most as the rain falls outside and the kettle boils. The real trick here is that D.A. has managed something new and fresh which also sounds utterly, beautifully classic. Could 'Glowing' be this generation's 'Imagine'? Probably not but it's still lovely.
