Marianne Joyce - Every Cloud EP
Release Date: Out Now
One EP, Five tracks and numerous moments of wit, wisdom and whimsy. That's what you get on the new 'Every Cloud' EP from Plymouth based singer-songwriter Marianne Joyce. The EP begins with 'Inventing Something' and the gentle acoustic strums paired with downplayed vocals let you know exactly what to expect from the Dartmoor born artist. 'Coffee & Rings' is one of those great observation songs that come to a writer when you're sitting and staring at the world because your phone battery has died or you've completed the internet.
Middle track 'It's A Gift' has a rippling urgency to the acoustic notes but Marianne Joyce has the kind of voice that could bring calm to a speed garage tune so you know you're in good hands as you float off downstream. As we near the end (all too soon) we get the treat of 'Mirrors', a song that finds a writer in self-reflective (see what I did there?) mood and it is possibly one of the most relatable songs I've heard this year. We bid a fond farewell with former single '14%', a wonderfully homespun song that feels like your favourite blanket and sounds like the wind raging outside through double glazing as you cosy down for the night. Marianne Joyce is one of my favourite discoveries of 2026 and a big part of that is because it was accidental and has no big marketing budget behind it. More to come in 2027 I hope.
