It is vile that songs like this need to exist but so, so important that, when needed, people are able to make songs like this and that we have voices like Girli to get the messages out there so effectively. 'Slap On The Wrist' tackles the issue of sexual harassment towards women and the woeful performance of the justice system in holding the perpetrators to account. The raw and cutting lyrics are delivered with a sweet and disarming pop punk melody but words like "So I've got my keys in my fist just in case he persists, cause once I didn't want a kiss and all that he got was a slap on the wrist" hit home hard. The video is just as brilliant in terms of its subtle but powerful delivery based on accounts reported to the superb people at Cheer Up Luv. All in all, a brilliant piece of art about a hateful element of society and the people that have to deal with every. fucking. day.
