Toronto solo artist Lights has a keen ear for an alt-pop melody and a voice that can switch from sweet to savage so this is an intriguing track from the get-go. 'Learning To Let Go' is an anthem of self-destiny set to a bouncy, light melody but with those vocals doing impish things and the video managing to combine seduction with dry humour. The icing on the cake is an 80s guitar breakdown before the song reaches its climax with a touch of early Ellie Goulding about the arrangement.
