GINGERELLA - EP REVIEW

Gingerella - Eat Your Heart Out EP (Pop
Supérette)

Release Date: Out Now

I've been waiting for a band like Gingerella to come along and here they are with a perky Britpop sound and stories to tell, so let's dive in shall we? 'Eat Your Heart Out' is the debut EP from the London lads and we get going with the honky-tonk piano pop of 'Stacey's World' which mixes the sounds of early Supergrass, the Fratellis and a hint of Squeeze. On 'Miss Twenty Something' we head a little more in the Razorlight and Kooks direction for a driving indie anthem that will have arms in the air and sing-a-longs aplenty at live shows I'm sure.

The near six-minute epic of 'When Sunday Comes' has a hint of the Longpigs about it but the piano stabs of frontman Tommy Adamson add in a little Oasis grit and if you're not reaching for your Adidas Sambas by the end of this then you're a younger man than me. The climax of the EP comes on 'Fanclub' which strides on to the stage with strong Beatles energy with the drumming of Ed Myers demanding the spotlight. This is the sound and songwriting of a band who could not only stand the test of time but could also become mainstream favourites for a lot of folk if they play this right.
