The mercurial and mischievous Bristol outfit Erotic Secrets of Pompeii are back and, judging from their press blurb, they are in reassuringly dark form - "this song is like a séance at a disco". The song they refer to is new single 'Bring Me Back From The Black Beyond' and it is, indeed, as socially awkward and jarring as a bunch of goths turning up to a youth club with designs on communing with the dead. The guitars buzz like a fly stuck on sticky paper, the drums work your kidneys with endless punches, and the vocals swagger as if entering the funeral of your arch enemy to toast their passing and spit on their grave. Now, does anybody know a Maureen? She has a message for you: she wants some Chip Stix and a Cherry Panda Pop.
