THE PURSUIT OF PLEASURE - SINGLE REVIEW

The Pursuit of Pleasure - Picture Me (Chufty
Badge)

Release Date: Out Now

This the second release from South coast collective The Pursuit of Pleasure and 'Picture Me' has a couple of visual reference points from my younger days - namely a press photo that looks like the fading image of the McFly family in Back to the Future and a video that seems to have taken some inspiration from A-ha's infamous 'Take On Me' video. But, what of the music I hear you ask? Well, there's the lamenting acoustic strum followed by the back-and-forth vocals of a couple in the throws of love while festering in their separate dead relationships. The song builds to a country tinged climax and there's a real sense of growing confidence throughout the song - as though the lovers are deciding to take that leap and put all their chips on happiness. Simple, stirring and moving.
